2010 Nats
I have it on pretty good authority that the VCV committee are waiting to see if someone will put their hand up to run it. Every one wants a Nats but it would appear no one wants to organise it. If no-one does it there may not be a Nats. I am sure that with the support of the Vanning community, and the vast experience and resources available, just about anyone could organise a nats as Vanners being the good folk they are I am sure will offer to help. We just need someone to co-ordinate it and find a venue. There is even a manual written by those that have done it that tells how to do it. (This I believe will also soon be available on the VCV web site).
Have a serious think about it. If you don't do it who will. Daz has had a turn and did a great job, as have several others over the years with varying degrees of success. Better crawl back into my box again.

Good to see you on here Skip - (what did you do to the front of PWE's van!!). As I mentioned to you recently, before you have a venue, you need someone with enthusiasm. Although NSW is a little low in that department, they are one step closer than they were at the Friday VCV AGM. There is hope for the future.
"Better crawl back into my box again" - how's your new home since they separated the colours!
Should keep his hands in his pockets - the after midnight activities around the campsites are usually more lively when he's not involved in running the show.alien8 wrote:

Re: 35th Australian Van Nationals 2010 ???
From all the discussions above it would appear there is quite a bit of enthusiasm in NSW just need someone to be the mouthpiece and put their hand up. That is the tricky bit.

Re: 35th Australian Van Nationals 2010 ???
I know a guy, who knows a guy , who worked with a guy, and together I think they could do it,
NSW is a good start, how many vans are we thinking off getting, how big you wanna go, what sort of ammenties do you need, how much effort does it take, how big is the committee, these are all things one needs to know before they put a hand up
Agro i hear you mate its not for the faint hearted I set up foundation runs here and UK no way am I going to get involved, but easy for people to say lets do it, but there is a lot to think of

Where do you start? You will need:
A sizeable venue that can accomodate around 150 - 200 vans/vanners camp sites; plus
an area for display segreggateable from the public on show day
Public liability insurance - cost depending on whether you have permission to run actual car games (not just model cars)
Ammenities to cater for the above - toilets, showers
Preferrably some form of buildings to run administration, presentations, sat nite dinner, kidz biz
Power sufficient to cater for the demands of onsite camping for the numbers that will camp onsite
Preferrably choose an area that will draw in the crowds on showday to make enough money to make a return on expenditure
Obtain sufficient sponsorship to have the capital to support the show (and make sure they cough up the money sooner rather than later so you don't run out of funds)
The organisers for the nationals can amount to any number of people - some have done it with 3, others have had 5 or 6. You can always call in support from others to do little things so long as you keep control of what's going on.
You may also require local council approval depending on where it's going to be held.
You will need to inform the local constabulatory in case of emergency.
the list my dears is endless - there are others that can add to this list better than i can, but this is just for starters.
You would also need to get support from the vanning community - at a guess it needs to be run past the VCV as well, they will be your main body of support - there's a format to be followed.
Any other input? If there is a hand waiting to go up to volunteer to run the Nats, maybe we should share what is required.
The person/s putting up their hand should know that they wouldn't be left on their own, we're there to support, the Forums by both Fres and Daz have helped to break down the barriers between states - let's keep it that way.

Re: 35th Australian Van Nationals 2010 ???
Just wondering if a venue has been decided yet?
Would it be worthwhile going back to Albury/Wodonga (or surrounding area's)?

so, Agsy, you'll have to become a member won't you? You would also benefit from discounted entry to the nats, so it's well worth it.... and if either of the venues (warrnambool or traralgon ) or ??? will be well worth it.
