OLD NSW Nationals event?

Just flicking through an old "Street & Custom" magazine and noticed that they used to have a NSW Valla Van Nationals on the Australia Day weekend.
Was it a popular event at all as the mag i'm looking through is promoting the Fourth event in 1985?

i guess if it was the fourth event it must of been popular but that was getting close to the time the van scene started to die down a bit,

These north coast events would have been second biggest vanning event in the country during the early eighties (1982-1985). Well attended by NSW & QLD vans as it was held in a seaside resort roughly halfway between Sydney and Brisbane. The first event in 1982 was my first weekend van run and only a handful of events since have surpassed that run. Seeing the featured vans from CV&T in the flesh for the first time, seeing ALL the famous Newcastle custom vans in the one place at the 1984 event. The same year, it bucketted down rain for most of the weekend and bored minds from around the Sydney/Newcastle area decided they could host a similar event close to Sydney - and so was born the Interclub Committee and its "once every nine months" van inns at Mitchell Park on the north west outskirts of Sydney during the mid eighties.
While the north coast location was perfect during the 1980's, it was strongly considered as a venue for the 2006 Van Nats. The rodders have been going there for over 30 years so it can't be a bad venue.

i live bout 20mins down the road from valla and its a great area, its at the top end of the nambucca shire. great beaches, camping, fishing, local pubs haha. and yea the rods are here every year and we seem to be getting more and more of them each time!! and isnt it a sight to see the whole main street of nambucca closed down and lined with rods on the sunday morning lol!!
as for the van shows being held here in the 80's, i wasnt even thort of then, so i hav no idea hahaha!!!

Isn't the Rod run on in October?
Will the Rod Run be affected by Wintersun getting moved down to Port Next Year?

Wintersun is June so wont affect Valla and everyone we talked to at Wintersun last week is still going to Coolangatta next year for the new event.
