Van Nationals

Hey Vanners, whats the go with the van Nats, I have checked out the entry forms and for someone who has not been before it does not make a lot of sense!
What goes on?
Obviously entry $ gets you in, covers camping and gives you a goody bag. Anything else? What competitions is there? Do you specifically need to enter them?
The entry form refers to 'Special interest and chrome bumper limited to 100 vehicles BUT ONLY for Saturday cruise and Sunday Show’n’shine' with extra fees. Are these the only two comps? Are they in sections? What is the criteria?

Does anyone have any more info?

Hi Mandy. Good to see you checkin out the nats. Yes entry gets you in for the weekend, covers camping, electricity, insurance, security etc. It also includes activities put on i.e. the saturday cruise and the sunday show'nshine. There are people games and car games, it also gives you dinner on saturday nite. Suggest you pm Daz at Highwaymenace, he's on the organising committee and can explain anything to you. Above all, it's a great weekend away with a great bunch of people from all over Australia (last year we had every state and territory represented) and this year, we've also got a few from US coming over. what Marion has said, heres some other details:

theres alot of things that are on at the Nats these will be all posted & on all promo media soon as we lock them in.

heres some of the things that will be going on at the Nats:

Partying full time.

Wednsday arvo: open for entrats to start arriving & set up camp and socialise

Thruday: more of above with some extras added if all things pan out.

Friday: Kids games
Undercover wear party ( for the ladies )
The annual AGM meeting and 2010 Van Nats proposals submitions.
May be a supprize cruise ( still working on this )
People games - Vanners, then Rodders, then best of Vanners Vs best of rodders.
Van Light & Sound comp.
Karoke with Nigzy ( top karoke DJ.)
& more

Saturday: Morning cruise to Adventure Park ( theme park ) your nats entry incluse admition.
Rocker cover races test & tune.
Airbrushing demos
Big BBQ tea the rock the night away with DJ Pinky & DJ Daz till late.
& more.

Sunday: Show & Shine for Vans, Rods & other classes of cars etc.
Rocker cover races.
Airbrushing demos
Show presentations around 3:30pm
Party night again with Non Show & shine presentations and auctions etc.

Monday: Say goodbye and head for home safely

As for trophies: we there are lots for Vans, good numbers for Rods also good numbers for other classes.

What is Chrome Bumper: these are Cars that left the factory with Chrome Bumpers ( not plastic.)
Special Vehicles: other types of vehicles of interest ( not your everyday rides)

Mandy, you should come to a VCV meeting and get to meet & greet a few of us. Next meeting is Thursday 6th Nov at the Hot Rod Club Rooms 68 Warrigal Rd Oakleigh, starts 8pm. That way you can learn re what we're on about too.

You should also put up an avatar, or if you're not certain on how to, kind Daz will assist i'm sure.

I have considered heading to the VCV meeting but finding time is a bit of an issue and Oakleigh is not just around the corner!

PS: for International vammers attendinding the 34th Australian Van Nats full entry fees are required but on arrival you will be refunded 50% in cash this hekps the event to raise funds for charity.. also now is a great time to enter as our dollar so so weak against the US dollar your book & UK pound air travel through an Australia Qantas agent and it will be a bargin..

I've been to a few of those kind of gigs, from Crystal T's in Brunswick who supply a male stripper if a certain amount is spent on the night
