Re: What made you build your van
I wanted a van when i was 8, to put in the backyard and do up, but it didn't happen.
I had a show car (ute) but once kids came along it wasn't as useful.
I was going to buy a VH SS group 3 but the missus told me that she wouldn't go in it at all.
I asked if i could do a van and the rest is history.
NOW my young fella has asked if i can get a van for him and put it in the backyard for him to do...Sounds familiar

I built Bad to the way it is from a stock sundowner, i built it to be different to every one else, the look, the paint , the wood interior and the murals. Wanted to be remembered for building a van with my signature and its own identity, didn't want to build a copy of some one elses van cause it is already done. Would of regreted not using my own ideas. So glad i did it my way.

That's great James. What about restoring old show vans does that count??

Ahh good point Agro, i think its up to the individual on what they do to restore, whether they change things to suit themselves or restore to respect the original owners workmanship and respect the vans historic value in the vanning community

In the words of an old skool vanner "Sex in vans is best" and I also heard that "If you build it they will come" so I did, and it is and they do
Seriously, I have the best guy in the world, and we both have always loved the big yank tanks especially the Chevies. So we bought, and having the perfect partnership, my ideas and his brawn and knowhow weve got our Aussie Big Van

Re: What made you build your van
My dad always had vans (eh/hr/ej etc) and i have always been into the surfing and the beach and it was just a natural progression i did my van from scratch aswell (with dads help) when i bought it, it had grass growing through the floor and a dog lived in the back everything on it me and dad did ourselves the engine swap, paint, interior etc.
the main reason i wanted it was because it was different most guys my age just go by commodores and rice rockets on finance and pay them off whereas i owned mine for $500.00.... too easy

tried to keep track to start off with but after a while it just got too hard...
Re: What made you build your van
After adding up what i have bought for it, (Doesn't include stuff that i have got for it and sold).
I have just hit $4000 including purchase of the van.
I still have some door and tailgate rubbers to get for it.

RE. What made you build your van
I bought mine as a cheap run around ($450) came very close to chopping it it once rego expired, but woke up to myself and realised I just enjoyed driving it, so decieded to fix it up a bit,7 or 8 years later and lots of $'s it lives, no regrets.
