Exhaust outlet
I took mine for a drive to Sydney last weekend and as my exhaust dumps just after the diff, the fumes came in from the tailgate.
Just wondering where you guys have you outlets and does the exhaust gas come inside?
I have got a few idea's where to finish it but curious where yours are.

Re: Exhaust outlet
If you dont want the pipes out the back then dump them behind the rear wheels, have had the old chevy drops on a few vans and cars and never had any probs with fumes, had exhausts coming out infront of the rear wheels as well and no probs, had 2 Toranas with the pipes dropped at the diff and bad fume problems with both, eyes stinging, head spins, got the pipes finished to the rear and all was good.
I dont think ending the pipes at the diff is the best idea, make them point out somewhere so the fumes can really escape instead of the fumes dwelling under the van/car/ute.
Hope this helps you Craig.
Cheers Aaron.

OH YEH, check the gap between the upper and lower gates, if that rubber is perished then you will get that fumes smell ( just remembered my old crappy HQ Van 6 pac i had, rubber on the bottom of upper gate was shot and let every smell in ).

Re: Exhaust outlet
One of the ideas i have is to angle them out from under the rear corners.

Re: Exhaust outlet
Very close to that but having a 45 degree angle and about 2 1/2" pipes.
You'd only see the end of the tips sticking out by about 2".

Re: Exhaust outlet
What i'll do is have a hotdog facing in reverse before the diff and a hotdog facing the proper way under the rear quarter with a tip on the end of it.
Because i will angle it down HOPEFULLY it won't matter with the tailgate open.

Re: Exhaust outlet
I know you still get fumes in with the exhaust out the back as they get drawn in as you drive, but i dont know if you dump it behind the wheels???

Thats how the ones on the HG are like now, you only see a fraction of pipe.

Re: Exhaust outlet
that could work. How far back before the drivers door and passenger door do the dumps have to be???? Legal reasons?

Re: Exhaust outlet
Won't the fumes still want to come in the back even though the exhaust just sticks out the side??
