Re: Insulation issues
i managed to get hold of the stuff they used to use from old cars..... (the ex does still come in handy at times LOL).
Also, places like Daley's etc who sell vinyl and the like to the automotive and marine industry for upholstery have the stuff by the meter too. I got it from Daleys in Fairfield/Melb and it's still called underlay. Same stuff as the olden days.
hope this helps.
Thanks Maz

Re: Insulation issues
Which insulation are you talking about. Floor or roof area? I only ask because you said lining and not carpet.
Floor will be as Maz said. For the inner roof, door inners and back area, dynamat or other variants is good for noise reduction.

Re: Insulation issues
That's the stuff. The guys over at DW customs are having a sale on the dynamat clone. Do a search for DW customs and you should find it easy. It's good stuff.

Re: Insulation issues
Dynamat is sweet as for lots of things. stops panel resonane, stop road noise big time, it also helps insulation eg. heater works better due less heat loss, keeps heat out as it stps heat tranfer from the panels getting inside, it also help stop shopping trolly dints as the panel is so much more ridgit as does not dint as easy, cuts down on wind & engine bay noise i love the stuff.

Re: Insulation issues
I went to a household air conditioning place and got a couple of fairly large sheets of what they use in houses and commercial buildings.
Has about 3/4" of yellow insulation material as well as some thin sound deadening stuff on the outside of it.
I got 3 sheets which will do the floors of both my vans, and enough left over to do the sides on one van.

Re: Insulation issues
Yeah Craig. thats the stuff that I used on my house when doing the colour bond roofing.
I might give that a shot between the roof & sides of the van b4 fixing the side/roof panelling.
Forgot about that gear, works well on the house.

The Yellow Insulation is FibreGlass - AVOID it unless you don't mind itching! It is used to internally line Airconditioning Ductwork. It insulates and provides some acoustic absorbtion.
The Black Matt Facing is to hold the FibreGlass together where the Air passes over it. We don't use as much of these days with all the obvious health issues. It doesn't provide any sound deadening, that's what the FibreGlass does.
You would be better off with one of the new "Tontine" or "RockWool" products we use, which don't have the associated health risks, but still provide thermal and acoustic properties.
The Thickness & Density determine the thermal and acoustic properties.
Price varies accordingly.
We buy it wholesale from the Manufacturer's such as "Bradflo".
We throw out more in scrap in a day than you will probably require. So if you know someone who builds Airconditioning Duct for a living, have a chat to them, they may be able to help you out.
Regards
Rusty!
