MY NEW WB PROJECT Empty MY NEW WB PROJECT

Post by ROCKETROD 10/7/2011, 1:45 pm

HI. I am a newbie to this site, i just brought a 1981 WB PANNO, i drove down to COFFS HARBOUR 12.00 midnight friday nite to pick up my beauty. i returned 6.00 p.m saturday night i was stuffed. I have brought this panno to RE-BIRTH it to a HZ SANDMAN i have started to strip it and next week will send it to the sandblasters. while it looks rough it actually has a very straight unmolested body, it has very little rust in the usual places i intend on getting it back from the sandblasters and fitting new sills and do a bit of plating here and there. It has a 1981 WB STATESMAN DEVILLE front with a caprice grill thats 1st to go i will replace it with a nice HZ front same as tail lights. I have a nice 253 V8 to rebuild for it. i intend to bring this OLD SKOOL classic back to its former glory. I have posted some pics of picking it up, will post pics of progress as i go..... https://i.servimg.com/u/f45/16/65/97/90/dscn3515.jpg

Welcome and good luck with the van... hope all goes well for you... can't see the pics at work, so will look 2nite if i remember... Have an 83 WB myself which has been a stocker up to now...202 3pd on column etc etc... currently being transformed internally, but external will happen later as the shell is very good and he's kept garaged (and yes, driven at least once a week too). MySandman forum is a very good site for all yr sandman info. But don't forget to stay on here too as many on this site can help you out as well.

Hi 0488TINTER

MATE I JUST PUT IT ON EBAY START BID FROM $600 (NO-RESERVE) IM NOT A GREEDY BUGGER JUST RATHER SEE THESE VANS GET WHAT THEY NEED, AND SEE THEM OUT ON THE ROAD....THERE ARE FEW ON EBAY ASKING $1600/$2000 AND OVER........AS YOU CAN SEE THE LOWER GUARDS HAVE A BITTA RUST IN THEM THEY WILL NEED REPAIRING, THE BONNET IS VERY STRAIGHT BUT HAS A LITTLE RUST HOLE IN THE TOP BUT VERY EASILY FIXED, ALL IN ALL IT IS GOOD FOR A FRONT END.

Thanks AGRO cause it was not my intentions at all. I had a mate years ago with a HZ PANNO it had a set of triple grilles and it looked awesome, if i wasnt aiming to bring my van to a replica SANDMAN i would of definately put a set of grilles on her.... Smile

Thanks Mark, yeah i have stripped it to an absolute shell at the moment no elecectrics in the dash everything is bare ready for the sandblasters..my sills are absolutely stuffed at the bottom and both side door panels at the bottom where the hinges bolt to are the only real rust issues with it everything else is spotless just a few little rust spots will be cut and plated ..as i go, will keep up with some progress pics soon mate, i got 3 car regos due next week hahaha so a quiet couple of weeks for my van just more stripping and tidying up.

once the sandman is complete it will look awesome towing my 1976 viscount Royal van i completely guttered and rebuilt from the ground up, if you google (rocketrods viscount reno) it will take you to my link in Ditzys proverbs there will be 5 pages starting when i brought the caravan home on a tilt tray before the journey of the rebirth of another classic. probably be best grabbing a bourbon or 2 and going through im sure u guys would apreciate the work that i put into that project..... Very Happy Very Happy
