The Wacko Award
Hi all,
As some of you may be aware, last weekend we lost a vanner from the USA which many of us knew. Paul Wack lost his battle for life and our condolences go out to his Australian wife Sue and young son Paul.
Wacko was a much loved vanner around the world. He has had a role in running a number of USA Van Nats and is also visited our shores more than any other US Vanner for our van nats. He was one of the most lovable guys you ever want to meet and will be missed by so many vanners around the world.
This got me thinking, i think it would be a good idea to have a perpetual trophy in honour of Wacko to be presented to a vanner each year at trophy presentation. The perpetual trophy would be kept by the VCV but the winner each year will get his or own trophy to take home.
Now what i am asking is if people think this is a good idea and feel free to make suggestions for what reason this award should be presented for.
I would like to start off by giving two ideas......1/ As Wacko liked a drink, maybe an award for the person most memorable over the weekend for what ever reason or 2/ have all entrants with a van on display on show day put their entrant number in a hat and the one drawn out recieves the award.
I am suggesting this award because Wacko meant so much to many vanners in Australia and the USA and around the world and has also been on this forum. Lets do something to remember him by and i am sure Sue would be touched by this. I look forward to any suggestions and replies. RIP WACKO.

Re: The Wacko Award
I'll heart fully agree!
Wacko was one who went to lengths for Vannin, no matter what shore he'd planted his toes on.
Maybe an encouragement award aimed to the newer Vanners, Wacko's Heart was with keeping the Vans rolling?

Re: The Wacko Award
When vanning stopped being a fad, and become a community of van enthusiasts, the vans started to take second place to the enthusiasts. Another option for the Wacko Award could be the current award of "Furthest Distance Travelled Without A Van". Wacko won it enough times and we could have him on the perpetual trophy with other vanners who shared his enthusiasm and values.

It's a sad day indeed when you lose a fellow van owner. My condolences go out to his family.
Was he at the 2009 nats?
