Doing a Pano group trip, ay tips?
Hey everyone, my Hq pano and my parents Hx pano is doing a trip to Ayers rock in a few weeks. Very excited. Besides going over the vans with a fine tooth comb before departure, has anyone any other tips?? Thanks Lance for your advice at the NATS in Philip Island.

I ALWAYS take extra water, spare radiator hoses, fan belts, cable ties and toolbox.

I used to do quite a bit of travel and in my boot there was always the flowing items,
Spare front wheel bearing kit & tub o grease.
spare tail shaft uni (they can look 100% but it sits there waitng till you travel, then BANG)
A bottle of chemi-weld
2 part epoxy ribbon (sump & fuel tank repair)
tin spray degreaser
tin of finnileak for punctures.
spare fan belts
small roll of gal wire (every country car is held together with gal wire) holds up broken things.
BEER ESKY
plus ya tools.
and spare water and fuel
some of this is optional but May come in handy

do you guys really have that many breakdowns or are you all just expecting the worst?!
i lived in the back of my van and tripped about the place for a good 3 months armed with nothing but a spare fan belt ( which several years later is still in its original wrapper ) , sleeping bag , travel kettle and my sense of adventure!
i reccomend packing plenty of drinking water and a roll of toilet paper though.
2 things that are never readilly available when you need them and happen to be in the middle of sweet nowhere!
live dangerously! trust in your van!
( maybe take a handful of change for pay phones just incase trusting your van doesnt quiet work out )
most important is to take your sense of humour and have fun!

Ah but you laugh now, but just wait until the fanbelt goes which makes the engine overheat and blow a head gasket which fills the cylinder with water which jams the motor snapping the tailshaft uni driving it into the tyre and punctures the fuel tank spraying fuel over everything...there i think that covers ALL the things i said to pack...
Oh and taking a partrigde from the pear tree might be good idea but a roast chook is probably gunna feed you longer while sittin on the side o road fixing everything...
