Rust sand and soda blasting
i recently brought a WB panel van which is in pretty good nic. of course it still needs to be rid of rust and eventually painted but my question is has anyone had any experience with sand/soda blasting??? at the moment it is stripped down and i have found some rust (not to major) but just want to know if anyone knows much about blasting and if anyone could recomend somewhere that does blasting and rust repair near ROMSEY........ yes i know, google it and its 8km from the centre of vic.

Re: Rust sand and soda blasting
soda blasting is the best as it wont distort any large panels and leaves a much smoother surface tor paint prep.
a good one to try os Soda blast:

Sanding
thanks menace. now i'm wondering about the sanding part. ive got a bit of surface rust and i really need it gone but i really havnt done anything this big before. ive only done plastic bumpers sanding back and getting repainted. does anyone have any advice when it comes to sanding the panels back so i can get it painted. ie what size grit should i be using. Also, the gutter that runs along the top of the van is fairly rusted, has anyone ever cut this off and sanded it back???

i was lucky $1500.00, but remember my van has just over 2 whole holden vans worth of metal area on it.
Re: Rust sand and soda blasting
My van had the rust cut out and new metal plates put in on the floor so its back to new and its been sanded and blasted. Looking very neat smooth and no rust..

Panel business and spray painting...quite good! They are doing a 2 door Monaro at the moment 73 model ... going to be worth a mint once they are finished with it, the dude is pay 14k for the spray job...he got it 3 yrs ago from some guy that wanted quick money sold it to him for $400 bucks!!
I wonder how my van is going...mmmmm tempted to go see her, but dont wana annoy them while they are trying to work on herrr
