AUSSIE VANS IN AUSSIE MOVIES

I dont know if this has been asked b4 but Iam was curious.
Does anybody have any idea how many AUSSIE vans have been in aussie movies.

We all know the obvious ones like MAD MAX's red van, MIDNIGHT SPARES(Is that the one with the monza front?) and then ofcourse PUBERTY BLUES (I NEVER watched it,I swear, I was told about it by some chick,true )
I think you see 30secs of an XB in RUNNING ON EMPTY (I think that was the excuse for the dialog in the movie,the writers WHERE running on empty)

So can you think of anymore?

i almost bought that van. the window and mirror were fixed but still had the dents in the bonnet. $4000 was the price. and it was rougher than you think. it since been repainted and done a few scenes in the ABC show wild side.

Gone - aussie backpacker kidnap thriller starring an XF van

They were supposed to use a Chocolate Brown EH van in the movie but Rick Pacey was still finishing the murals[van is on cover of CV&T] so they used a Green EH instead but forgot to change the dialogue.Both vans were from East Coast Van Club. There was another movie about the same time called Land of Oz,I think that a blue HJ with Pacific Van Club stickers on it.

Alley Cat was in a Toyota advert,it showed John filling up the V12 while a Corolla put in a few litres. Guy`s Blue XB was in a Chokito ad and White Knight [a really nice HR ] was on the cover of a KTEL record album.About 150 of our vans were in a documentary that was filmed at Channel 10 including Alley Cat,Misty Blues,Shamrock,the Director,Van Venom,Scorpion .I`d love to see it again but noone could record shows back then.

i'd like to see the footage of all those van what about trying to contact channel 10 archives and see what information they can give you

I was thinking that myself,when it was done it was only in their format so Beta or VHS players couldn`t play it but I`ll see what they say.

I for one would love a copy of that doco if it comes about, pretty sure some others would what it to.
Thats if the TV channel still has it and is willing to sell copies.

damn forgot to tape it or watch it, but 2 nights ago ch9 had a crime investigation show with a HT(?)pano featuring heavily in the ad

the missing female was seen getting into a pano (which they featured a yellow/brown HR holden) this all happened about 30 yrs ago

I watched midnite spares again the other day and it has Steve Plunkett's 'Broken Hearted' EH Pano as the van with the engine bay they're oogling over when the asian's red Charger gets stolen. One of the thieves walks up and gives it the 'nice one boys, plenty of chrome in there'...

You know the scene, "He stealer my car" with Rabbits famous "That's right , he's stealing your car; the next time you see a nice red Charger mate it will be a ca-noe.."

Great movie and me and my mates regularly pull the one-liners from it in everyday life. Even my wife does when I ask her what she feels like for lunch/dinner etc. and she says 'Wouldn't mind a bite of a Mars Bar if you've got one open Ruthy". There's also a tough red SLR5000 with a Monza type nosecone and bubble headlight covers.

Many years ago in the 80's 'Flying Doctors' TV show, a guy had a custom Holden Pano in Maroon/Bronze with heaps of murals that featured heavily for a while.
