Our trip to MotorEx
Wednesday the 8th of July: 5:30pm admitted to Casualty with chest pains.. blood test and ecg confirm another heart attack.
later that evening before the quack came back to sign me in i cheacked out very quickly... yeh! got home arrange the girls to load the van
Thrusday the 9th: 8 am into the Menace and off to Sydney Tracey & I go, had a great run up to Goulburn where we stay for the nite.
Friday the 10th: arrive at Homebush checked in to the Novatel then went and parked near the front entrance around 1 pm to wait for Fres
to arrive and find Azza walking over so we had a chat for awhile then he had to head off so we went around to the enterance and got the van in then Mr. Fres rocks up and sorts out our site area, then the other start to arrive ( some "sweet as" vans ) by the end off the nite
there was 13 vans displayed ready for the show.
Saturday the 11th: well the show opened a bit quiet i thought but the vans were attracting alot of attention and other vanners came and said hi. we meet some vanners from here that we only knew on the forums and had a great day.
Sunday the 12th: once again show opened but it was much busyier and more vanners came along and lots of peoples stopping looking at the vans and chatting with us. great day again, after the show we all packed up and headed for home with a stop over for the nite at Goulburn
BUT 30 ks before goulburn in the dark my charge light came on solid.... bugger! we made it to the motel and decided to sot it out in the morning.

Part 2:
Monday morning went out to the Menace tp tell my thoughts and see if i could find the problem,,, yep the Altinator is DEAD. well i have RACV total care but i thought i would drive untill i ran out off battery power ( mind you the batteries were low from running the sound & lighting at the event ) we drove to Holbrook & stopped for fuel and just got her to start again. and on the raod to home we went expecting to be stuck on the side of the road soon and calling someone who cares ( RACV ) we drove down through the clouds and the came the 125 ks of roadworks and finally back in victoria.. and the the rain started only using the wipers once in awhile to see and conserve power we kept going.
i was watching the fuel gauge and the dash instruments do funny things all the way home... yep we made it and the van cut out just as i rolled in through the gate. YEH! dam i must say there is now another reason i like 4 BIG batteries.. so tomorrow i will find out what the $$$ damage will be tho i know it wont be cheap so the Menace will likely be out of action for awhile.
thanks all for now folks pics will be posted in the topic soon.

Bl**dy hell Daz, you guys could've ended up in a ditch! Wish you wouldn't push it like that, it wouldn't have just been your life. Anyhow, that aside, glad you had a good weekend in the end, shame about the Menace, hope it's ticker gets sorted as well and there wasn't too much damage by continuing to drive. Looking forward to seeing the pics. Take care and get yourself checked out too.

Far out Daz.
You like pushing yourself, don't you.
Does sound like an eventful trip though.

**** See what he would have charged you Daz (don't tell him you already got one!)****
Would be interested to see, prices on late model commercial vehicle parts are closer than passenger stuff......
Had similar issues with prices on alternators/starters etc, until I found this bloke who is only 500 metres up the road from work (even better).
Has really looked after me with prices compared to other Auto Elec's I have tried.
He has so far supplied the following on the white falcon van:
1 Huge Output Alternator. ($160.00 less than others quoted)
1 Automatic Battery isolator/switch. ($43.00 less than anyone else, ARB, TJM etc)
2 Heavy Duty Calcium N70Z Batteries. (retail was $360 +gst each, paid round $180inc ea)
So far I have never gone wrong with him, here's his details:
TRUCK START P/L.
Darryl Bradshaw.
Factory 6, 23 - 25 Swift Way.
Dandenong South.
(03) 9706 6066 or 0418 370 791.
Tell him "Dingo" John put ya on to him..... can also pick anything up from there for ya
during business hours if you can't make it there.

that's ok Kath, we could celebrate anyway... but suppose it would be better if he was there in person... would kinda make it a little more worth while....
