Re: van rear bumper
mate good question. I'd be keen to know also? I remember trying to make a statesman rear bumper fit, It did in the end but I swore at it a lot and had to bend the mount brackets.

Re: van rear bumper
from memory of what i'd been told, the wagon bumper will fit, not the sedan as the mounting brackets are different. Never tried it myself, but with my old van was gonna swap to another rear bumper and was given that advice. Though even with a wagon, it'll take a little coaxing.

Re: van rear bumper
the mounting brackets from the wagon or sedan get disregarded anyway. Unless someone has a different way of mounting these bars to me.
the best way i have found mounting these bars up is to use HQ lower tailgate hinges.
HQ hinges don't hang out as far out as HJ onwards.
1. pull all brackets off the bumper bar.
2. drill and tap the holes were the bumperet would bolt to on the lower tail gate hinges to around to take an M8 to M10 bolt.
3. make suitable spacers up to bring the bar out from the body so it lines up nicely.
4. drill two 10mm holes in the bumper bar to line up with the mounting holes in the lower tailgate hinge brackets.
5. get suitable length M8 or M10 bolts and bolt up to the van.
6. look back and enjoy!

Re: van rear bumper
all the rear bars will fit...wagon,sedan and wb statesman...like smooth said you loose the existing brackets and do what he suggested as the easiest method but you can do it by welding brackets to the inside....i had a custom bar made for a customers show van so it would fit perfectly on the ends...vinnies at dandenong did it..has to be cut in 2 spots and shortened an inch either side....we used a wb statesman bar on his because he wanted to run the larger rubbers..

thanks oz.
But Iam unsure what you ment by cutting the wb bar an inch both sides though. doesnt it then rub on the body where it wraps around?

Re: van rear bumper
Finally found a rear bar that I like.
Was recently rechromed and not a dent in sight. Its a rubber-less hj bar to match the front one.
got only One little pit in the chrome but.
Now to fit the bastard. going to try and make custom brackets that bolt to original holes if possible for it as I dont want to drill holes in it

Your right pete, it is easy that way, thats how me last one was done but this time i want to try & custom make some brackets to fit orig holes. I seem to make things harder for myself
After looking at the picture again you realise just how dusty your car gets just sitting in the shed.

Picked up this Suttle Custom Rear Bar. A local Panel Beater still does them - a very good job. You'll still see the odd one around Albury.
This one yet to be cleaned up and powder coated or chromed.
Contemplating filling in the Tail lights on my Wagon and fitting this Bar.

Rusty.

Re: van rear bumper
I like the 6 light HQ bumper, and have thought about modifying one. Do you have the details of the panel beater who does them? Any idea of price?
Cheers

Tell Zane Russell from Complex refered you.
As for price, Zane will be able to tell you.
The finish was so good people often rechromed them.

Here's an example of some of Zane's other works:
Re: van rear bumper
How good does the XR look with the xb scoops?
looks like it was ment to be that way. He does good work.
my son in law has a XR6 and when i showed him that pic he drooled over it.

Re: van rear bumper
Yes, very nice.
The best part is that it's done in steel.
