Tailgates on Falcon Vans.......
Anyone had opportunity to do a barndoor to gates conversion????
Need to know how the filler panel (between roof gutter and top of top gate) is held on????
Found one on a van in QLD and I'm in melb, never taken one off before......
Tips, clues, hints & do they come off????
Cheers John

Still looking for this panel, got enough tailgates and hardware now.
Some spare hinges and hardware wouldn't go astray if anyone knows of any???????

Re: Tailgates on Falcon Vans.......
Im thinking of selling my VT Commodore and getting an XF van (as I have heaps of parts for an XF sedan, including mags etc..The van that I may be able to get has the barn door set up..which I think is crap regarding vision thru the rear..I was thinking about a one-piece door with large glass window that hinged off one side using the original hinges on say the left or right hand side..Does anyone have any idea whether the weight of a one piece steel door would be too much for a standard set of barn door hinges?? Basically i would like a tailgate like whats on Checkmate
Oh and this is what I have in mind to do to the XF if purchased....

Don't think the standard barn door hinges would hold up to it.
Best to use 2 way tailgate from a wagon, (can fit them to only swing open & not fold down) pretty sure even the holden vans (i.e checkmate) use the Ford 2way gate hinge set up.
One of my plan "B's" is to use the wagon 2way tailgate (XB - XC, same gate as all XA to XF Utes)
Add the frame to the top of the tailgate to hold standard wagon window seals etc and fill gap towards top of standard barndoor opening (barndoors have taller opening than gates), leaving the standard wagon window in the tailgate (converting to electric), so ya can cruise with the window down on hot summy days!!!!

Re: Tailgates on Falcon Vans.......
But all the above now on the backburner as I scored a new van XF with Tailgates already.........
And snaffled some new and used gates and hinges etc along the way...
