We were very lucky not to end up like that on the way home almost had a very large Bush Turkey fly into the windscreen of the transit at about 120kmh about 1 km from the Nullabour Roadhouse missed him by about 6 inches. Paul

Sorry to hear about the near miss Paul, I drove the beddie all the way while Julian slept she never missed a beat, and was going too quick for the wildlife on the side of the road to hit the big box on the highway
But must give credit where credit is due, tucked in between a convoy of trucks and let them take the risks, and get me home safe 3 for the interstate truckies

Re: pee wee v kangaroo
i drove to Elizabeth S.A for a guy one night going across the Hay plains doing about 110 in a semi and a big red stopped in the middle of the road. i was told not to back off or turn as you run the risk of putting the truck on its side at that speed. so i lined him up in the centre to the bull bar and belted him and he didnt get back up and the centre of the bull bar was bent and touching the grill. got to S.A. and got the bar cut off and came home in the day

I certainly know what its like on the Hay plains as i was born and bred out there the roos are bad all the time and have been for as long as i can remember they were not to bad this year heading back to Perth mind you we only travelled during the daylight hours.

All we saw on the way back from the nats were sheep and a couple of Deers.

Down here there is a road kill cafe, you take what you hit depends what they are. I hit in me van a 9 foot gator did not fase it busted front flares bent bumper broke tie rod end, the worst part was sitting 3 hours on gator higway waiting for some one stop for help. Before any other gators came looking for chump food.

i picked a load from Miami and headed west via Aligator alley, seen about 15 gators on the side of the road. hoping that i dont break down.
