NSW Roads Dept.... Just havin a winge
I went the other day to enquire about plates for my Van.
Just after the standard NSW yellow & blake 2letter 2number 2letter configuration.
Now I was after certian letters and numbers but it would still be a standard plate. nothing like BLOWN or GRUNTER or some such.
Thay tell me that because I want certian figures its $250 or order them (which I dont mind) but this is the kicker,They want an extra $90 a year on top of my rego for the privlage....what a rought..
You guys from other states, do you cop this too.

Just had a quick look on the vic roads website, looks like if I want to order plates in the standard vic format (3 letters, 3 numbers) in my own choice, it would cost:
$395 for two standard size plates
$425 for one standard and one slimline
$455 for two slimline plates
Still cheaper than the custom plates I want:
$595 for two standard
$625 for one of each
$655 for two slimline
If I was get either of them I think I would go one of each, a slimline one for the front, and a standard for the rear.
Still, I really want to get on club rego because of the yearly expense and because of the great changes they have made to the regulations in vic this year in that you don't have to be attending a club event to be able to drive your car.
So if I do that I won't be able to run custom plates anyway....

Thats what i was spewin about going on SR rego, i wasnt able to use my SHOVAN plates on Bad any more, but i guess that is the sacrifice you take for the privilages.
I remember Street Legal used to have " STREET" number plates and each year i heard it cost Marshy $400 to keep them, not sure if it is true or not.
If you want 3 letters in number plates here it is about $700 i think (the less you want the more it costs) but at least once we pay for them they are ours and we pay no more.

Welcome back Al, man thats still expensive, we pay from about $499 to $699 depends on how many numbers and letters but that is it, we never pay anymore for them, in the end that could work out to 1 cent a day depending how long we have the plates. I have SHOVAN for Bad and have had them over 10 years now and they cost me just $399 back then
