NSW RTA Certified Engineers
G'day
I have been laying low for a while working. I am mostly into CF vans but have a Turbo Carry van for fun.
I have been held up on a couple of van projects trying to get them inspected by an Engineer in Western NSW.
I have made several approaches to the local Engineer, in the last year, however he has not responded. I have been informed that he has/is retiring.
Does anybody know of a Van friendly engineer that I can talk to?
Regards
Chris

Re: NSW RTA Certified Engineers
G,day Chris.
Might be a silly question but did you ring the RTA. they will give you a list of approved enginers close to you.
Also your local auvis station should be able to point you towards one.
cheers

Re: NSW RTA Certified Engineers
G'day
I have asked a few local people involved in vehicle modification and they all roll their eyes and/or shrug their shoulders when I mention the RTA.
I have recently contacted several local auvis stations and RTA staff. I what I was told left me shaking my head. I am not prepared to repeat publicly exactly what I was told but the system is definitely not being managed properly and is grossly unfair to anyone living outside of the coastal regions and who genuinely needs to modify a vehicle to suit local conditions.
The process of travel, accommodation and transport to the coast to get a vehicle engineered is just too costly. No wonder there are so many mildly modified vehicles running around non-engineered.
Saying all that I have been working my way though the RTA "VSI 15 Engineering Signatories" and may have found someone who can help. I also found that several Engineers are retiring and so are not taking on any more work.
I will inform of any success.
