Retrieving engine numbers ???

Just looked at my engine,when they decked the block they sort of removed the engine no.And we have no idea, what to do as i have no rego papers.With the numbers on it, i'm up that well known street.I rang the engine builder, he didn't know he did it and cannot help.Any ideas

What state are you in James ?? in NSW all you have to do is submit the vehicle to an AUVIS station for a "blueslip" if its unregistered or a "change of details" if it is currently registered & if they cannot identify your engine number they will send you off to the police or RTA station with a "police referal" or a form1068 as we call it in the game & they will try & identify the number & if they carnt they will simply issue you a new one. but if your not in NSW James im sure your state or territory will have a simular system . Thanks mate but it turns out that, Good ol ford,are lazy the engine no is the same as the chassis, no which is the same as the Vin number.
